Dear friends! BKC receives an overwhelming number of requests for help, but also we are getting outpouring support from strangers around the world. We are working extremely hard to help families in Ukraine, and we dedicate our time and effort to answering those calls for assistance with actual aid. Ukraine is an active war zone, and that defines how we operate. We would like to explain a few things so you can better understand our processes.
The execution of our projects includes:
Validating requests
Finding suppliers/facing shortages of supplies
Managing logistics
Addressing possible security concerns
Time-sensitive prioritisation
Following up with families
Some of the BKC team are volunteers, and that means we rely on people to have the time to offer assistance in writing reports, posting to social media or planning projects. These generous people reduce our operational costs, so donations are given to those most in need. Our paid team members are living in Ukraine under immense stress. We care about everyone in our team, who work tirelessly to help others.
Our work requires a reasonable time to complete. Sometimes, plans change at the last minute, and a project that has taken weeks to plan is cancelled because of elevated risk, a break in the logistics chain, or sometimes it is impossible to deliver humanitarian aid to some areas. For our team, working in these conditions can be difficult. We are forced to adapt to the situation and find solutions. Funds do not always move fast; teams are under immense pressure living in a war zone. Logistics sometimes fail, and we must start a project from the beginning. The process is not simple. However, we quantify all our work.
We hope this information helps you better understand how we operate under the circumstances. We provide regular reports; you can check our social media updates for the most up-to-date information about what we are achieving. We post pictures and tell the stories of our families who are so deeply grateful for the assistance they have received.
We thank you for standing with Ukraine and for your support in this difficult, trying time.
