Dear Friends,
The second quarter of 2025 (April-June) has been three months of active work, achieved through the dedicated efforts of our team. Thanks to our regular partners — GlobalGiving (USA), Poki (Netherlands) — and incredible donors from across the globe, we were able to implement even more impactful initiatives that supported countless children and their families. In these three months, the total budget for our activities amounted to UAH 828,077 (USD 20,026).
Among the most significant achievements of this period, June saw the launch of our project, “Psychological Support and Compensation for Educational Gaps for Vulnerable Children in Hard-to-Reach and Underfunded Communities of Ukraine.” Thousands of children in Ukraine have lost not only their homes and the opportunity to study normally, but also their sense of safety and stability. Many live in remote areas where aid rarely reaches. It is precisely these children we aim to support as a priority. Thanks to the generous assistance of the incredible GlobalGiving, alongside our partner organisations – Caritas Poltava and the Volunteer League – we opened the doors to children’s centres in Poltava and Berestyn (Kharkiv region).
These centres will become places where every child can find:
- Psychological support and a safe environment for trauma recovery.
- Opportunities to learn, catch up on missed education, and acquire new knowledge.
- Creative workshops where children can develop their abilities and express their emotions.
- A supportive circle where everyone feels understood, supported, and a sense of warmth.
- And, of course, daily snacks, smiles, and a warm welcome.
This project is more than just aid; it is an investment in the resilience, healing, and future of Ukraine’s children. After all, they are our greatest asset.
Thanks to ongoing support, we were able to fund additional rehabilitation courses for 6 children with disabilities, totalling UAH 150,000. Among these children, we were also able to assist little Arthur, a strong boy who has been battling severe diagnoses since birth. Each rehabilitation course for Arthur and many other children is another step towards independence, towards the ability to walk, play, and engage with the world on equal terms. Children with disabilities vitally need to undergo rehabilitation at least 2-3 times a year, depending on their diagnosis and recommendations. The waiting list for rehabilitation funding is constantly growing, yet our resources are limited. Currently, many children are awaiting vitally needed rehabilitation. Your support offers a real chance for children like Arthur to get closer to their dream of a fulfilling life.
April was a very emotional month, filled with long-awaited events. In particular, our team made a supportive visit to the Kirovohrad region! We finally visited the Znamyanka Children’s Residential Institution and the Kirovohrad Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital, both of which we regularly support. This meeting was highly anticipated. Our visit was not only an opportunity to witness the changes we have all contributed to, but also a chance to understand the critical importance of our continued support. We met with the management of the institutions, discussed their current needs for 2025, and explored how we can work together to provide even more effective assistance. We also visited our beneficiaries, spoke with them, found inspiration, and, in doing so, recharged for future important projects!
We would like to briefly introduce you to the institutions we regularly support:
✔ The Kirovohrad Regional Children’s Hospital is the only medical facility in the region providing highly specialised care for children, especially premature infants. Every day, here is a battle for tiny lives. The hospital constantly requires consumables, medications, and equipment for quality treatment.
✔ The Znamyanka Children’s Residential Institution is home to 147 children with severe developmental disabilities, many of whom have limited mobility, are bedridden, or use wheelchairs.
It was incredibly valuable to see how assistance provided in previous years continues to serve and bring comfort and benefit to the beneficiaries and patients of these institutions. We are immensely grateful to everyone who continues to faithfully and consistently support our work. Your assistance has become a true source of inspiration and hope for us.
Furthermore, we procured essential supplies for a school in the Myrhorod community, totalling UAH 51,820. This is more than just aid; it is support that changes lives.
We extend our immense gratitude to the wonderful team of donors — especially Ellen Rutten, Anna Atszerg, and Pegasus Uitgeverij en Boekhandel — for their meaningful and heartfelt assistance to children living in the rural Poltava region. Thanks to a generous contribution collected as part of the Book Boost Launch initiative, we were able to acquire:
- Two sewing machines — for creative after-school activities.
- Two JBL PBM100 microphones and a JBL PartyBox Stage 320 audio system — for school performances and community events.
- Craft kits — felt, foamiran, and other materials to develop imagination and fine motor skills.
- Six sports balls — football, volleyball, and basketball — for active and healthy breaks.
For children living amidst war, especially in remote villages, such assistance is more than just support. It is a clear signal that they are seen, cared for, and that their future is believed in.
Every action we take is not merely a report entry, but a tangible change: restoring dignity, saving lives, creating opportunities for families, and ensuring children’s voices are heard.
